About Kartik D.
I am passionate about tech-enabled business models that expedite progress towards a more sustainable and equitable future. As a global venture capital investor at (IFC) World Bank Group, I provide strategic capital to disruptive startups and support these ventures to reach their goals. My investment experiences span multiple geographies, sectors, and phases of a company’s life cycle. Following a stint at Deloitte’s investment banking division, I performed leveraged buyouts of B2B companies in North America at RLJ Equity (founded by BET's Robert L. Johnson and The Carlyle Group). Thereafter I transitioned to Tana Africa (JV between South Africa's Oppenheimer family and Temasek) to provide growth equity to Africa’s leading consumer-driven businesses. Since then I have joined IFC's global venture capital team. Born in India. Raised in Singapore. Graduated from Claremont McKenna College (USA) as a Robert Day Scholar with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics, as well as a concurrent and accelerated master’s degree in finance.
