He furthered his education by obtaining a Master of Science (M.S.) in Nuclear Engineering from the same institution in 2009. Wysong possesses expert-level knowledge of 10 CFR 830, focusing on its interpretation and implementation at DOE/NNSA sites. His extensive experience includes participation in over 25 DOE O 425.1D Readiness Assessments.

Wysong began his career at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as a Nuclear Criticality Safety Scholar from 2006 to 2007. He transitioned to various roles, including Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer from 2007 to 2012 and Nuclear Criticality Safety Functional Area Manager from 2020 to 2021. He also worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Criticality Safety Analyst IV and later as Nuclear Criticality Safety Division Leader from 2015 to 2018. His international experience includes a position as a Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer at AWE in the United Kingdom.
Achievements
Throughout his career, Andrew Wysong has championed the development of ES&H research and development capabilities and student programs aimed at attracting and retaining skilled technical staff within the ES&H area. He led the rebuild of the Nuclear Criticality Safety Program at Los Alamos National Laboratory, managing a team of approximately 35 engineers. His significant operational and experimental experience spans multiple countries, including work in the United Kingdom and France.
