About Celia Currin

As an Executive and Career Coach I bring an extensive general management perspective, from both my education and professional background. Coaching is a field inherently rewarding, working as a trusted advisor for highly dedicated individuals actively striving to develop their leadership skills and sensitivities, helping them identify and build on their strengths. This increasingly includes assessment work on Emotional Intelligence, a critical component for executive success. My coaching clients run the gamut from senior executives managing their careers over the long run to recent graduates looking for the first, or second, step on their career paths. I started my career as a writer with my home town newspaper, the Pendleton East Oregonian. What a joy!! I was the first woman editor of the Harvard Business School weekly publication, the HarBus. After business school I went to Forbes Magazine where I honed both interviewing and writing skills. Later came 25 years on the business side of the publishing industry at DowJones /The Wall Street Journal with senior management jobs in Sales, HR, Operations, and Marketing. After retiring from DJ, I took my interviewing, communications, management and sensitivities skills into coaching. In my board work I serve on the board of Lincoln Educational Services, a NASDAQ company. I chair its Governance Committee and serve on the Audit Committee. In the non-profit world, I have served on the board of Poets & Writers, for many years, including a 12 year run as board president. In 2020 this wonderful organization will celebrate its 50th anniversary, working to assist both poets and writers with the business side of their careers. Take a look at its website - pw.org - or pick up a copy of our monthly magazine!! I am known for a candid and direct - and occasionally fun -- style that encourages honest two-way communication. My clients are the best!
