Work at LMI
Ashley Rivero has been employed at LMI as an Environmental Specialist (Sr. Analyst, Environmental Planning) since 2019. In this role, she leads interdisciplinary teams to conduct routine environmental studies and evaluations. She also serves as an on-site deployment manager and monitor when working on public lands. Her responsibilities include developing training programs and acting as a biological monitor and migratory bird surveyor. Additionally, she coordinates with natural resource specialists to analyze information for natural resource project plans and serves as the point of contact for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) activities during public involvement efforts.
Previous Experience in Environmental Roles
Prior to her current position, Ashley Rivero held various roles in environmental and conservation organizations. She worked as a Fisheries Technician 3/Conservation Aide at the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks for two months in 2017. She also served as an Aquatic Invasive Species Water Technician and an Aquatic Invasive Species Science Technician at the same department for a total of eight months in 2017. Additionally, she was a Trail Crew member at Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy for six months in 2015 and worked as a Water Quality Field & Lab Analyst at Apex Systems for six months in 2018.
Education and Expertise
Ashley Rivero has developed expertise in environmental planning and management through her diverse roles and training. She completed lichen biomonitoring training sponsored by the U.S. Forest Service, where she learned to set biomonitoring plots, calculate tree density, identify lichen plant communities, set abundance scores, and collect tissue samples for analysis. This training included a practical component in the Rouge River–Siskiyou National Forest’s Kalmiopsis Wilderness. Her background also includes experience as a Scuba Instructor with PADI from 2010 to 2013, which further enhances her understanding of aquatic ecosystems.
Service with AmeriCorps
In 2016, Ashley Rivero served as a Watershed Member with AmeriCorps for 11 months in Montana. This role involved engaging in community service and environmental stewardship, focusing on watershed management and conservation efforts. Her experience with AmeriCorps contributed to her understanding of environmental issues and her commitment to public service in the field of environmental planning.
