Laura Beacham has been employed at LMI since 2018, currently holding the position of Lead Project Engineer and Systems Engineer in the Greenville, South Carolina area. In this role, she has implemented the Department of Homeland Security’s Systems Engineering Lifecycle process to deploy technology along the southern United States border. She has also acted as a liaison between contractors and the government Project Manager, ensuring effective communication and project execution. Her responsibilities include serving as the Lead Project Engineer for vehicle surveillance system and aerostat technology programs, where she manages contractor personnel across multiple domains.
Education and Expertise
Laura Beacham earned her Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University, where she studied from 2012 to 2016. She furthered her education at Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering, obtaining a Master of Science in Engineering with a focus on Systems Engineering from 2017 to 2020. Her educational background equips her with a strong foundation in engineering principles and systems management, which she applies in her current role at LMI.
Background
Before her current position at LMI, Laura Beacham worked as a Data Analyst and Test Engineer at LMI from 2016 to 2018 in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area. Prior to that, she was a Cooperative Education Student at BMW Manufacturing from 2014 to 2015 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This diverse experience in engineering and data analysis has contributed to her development as a skilled project engineer.
Achievements
In her role as Lead Project Engineer, Laura Beacham has conducted Physical Inspection Functional Check-Outs of new technology and prepared and executed Operational Evaluations. She has served as a Subject Matter Expert for technology and programs relevant to her work, reviewing Engineering Change Proposals and testing proposed technology upgrades. Additionally, she programmed an Excel VBA macro scheduling tool to manage system technology upgrades and maintenance, showcasing her technical skills and project management capabilities.
