About Myrtha Ortiz Villar
I am a first-generation queer Latinx and daughter of immigrants from Los Angeles, CA. Growing up in a low-income and mixed-status household inspired me to pursue a career in education focusing on higher education, career development, and change management. I believe in transforming college access practices and higher education institutions so that first-generation, low-income students of color can access transformative careers and lives. I was raised amid the immigrant rights movement and quickly understood the power of self-advocacy. Today, I use my background in community organizing, college advising, and working towards social and racial justice to empower individuals in their career exploration and development.
