About Bruce Erickson

Bruce Erickson is a Senior Consultant and Managing Director in Merrill's Walnut Creek, CA, office. He joined Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in 2004.  Prior to that he was a Principal in the San Francisco office of Bernstein Investment Research and Management for eight years. Mr. Erickson was a founder and principal of Avalon Capital Management, a private client investment firm in Redwood City, California. From 1986 to 1992 he was Executive Vice President and Marketing Head of Bailard, Biehl & Kaiser, a Bay Area investment firm. Mr. Erickson's began his career in banking with First Chicago Corporation in 1973.  In 1976, he moved to Crocker National Bank where he worked for ten years in commercial banking and headed the Cash Management Division before transitioning to private wealth management. Mr. Erickson received a B.A. degree in Economics and International Relations from Brigham Young University, cum laude, in 1971. He received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1973. He is a past Vice President of the Harvard Business School Alumni Board and is currently on the Advisory Council of the Harvard Business School Association of Northern California. Mr. Erickson was a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves and served with the 91st Division at the San Francisco Presidio. He is fluent in Italian, travels and reads extensively, enjoys teaching, writing and public speaking. He loves discovery and is a lifelong learner.  Born in Colorado, he has spent most of his life in California after living in Europe, the East Coast and the Midwest. He counts his family as his greatest source of joy and engagement.
