Education and Academic Background
Rafeek holds a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences, which he completed from 2006 to 2009. He further pursued a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the same institution from 2009 to 2012. Additionally, he earned an Executive MBA from the University of Warwick - Warwick Business School between 2018 and 2020, and studied Big Data and Business Analytics at IE Business School in 2020.
Military Service and Leadership Training
Rafeek has been serving in the Swiss Armed Forces since 2013, currently holding the rank of Major and being a member of the Cantonal Territorial Liaison Staff of Zurich. He also completed leadership and strategy training at the Swiss Armed Forces Officers School from 2005 to 2006.
Early Career in Quality Assurance and Science
Rafeek began his career as an Assistant Quality Assurance at Frutarom, where he worked from 2008 to 2011 in Wädenswil, Kanton Zürich. He then transitioned to CSL Behring as a Scientist in Process Validation for Immunoglobulins from 2013 to 2016 in Bern, Switzerland. He also served as a Scientific Assistant in Bioprocess Technology at ZHAW from 2009 to 2012.
