About Dean Klein
As Vice President of Memory System Development, Dean Klein's former responsibilities focused on the development of memory technologies and capabilities. In the past, Mr. Klein's responsibilities included Solid State Drives (SSD's) and advanced memory systems. Mr. Klein is a contributor to several publications and was a part of the team that authored the DARPA Exa-Scale Computing Study. Klein is currently a consultant and board member. His areas of interest are computing architectures, memory system design, Exascale computing and recreational marine power systems. Klein is also a mentor for the BullBots FIRST Robotics Competition team. Mr. Klein joined Micron in January 1999, after having held several leadership positions at Micron Electronics, Inc., including Executive Vice President of Product Development and Chief Technical Officer. He also co-founded and served as President of PC Tech, Inc., previously a wholly-owned subsidiary of Micron Electronics, Inc., from its inception in 1984. Mr. Klein earned a bachelor's of science degree in electrical engineering and a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota and holds over 240 patents in the areas of computer architecture and electrical engineering. He also serves as a technical advisor to several organizations and promotes math and science education. Mr. Klein also mentors High School students for the Bullbots FIRST Robotics Competition team.
