Rhys is an experienced Manager and Leader who has and maintains a deep technical background in cloud technologies, IT infrastructure, and software development. He recently joined GitHub after spending most of his career at Microsoft and has grown from a software developer to a sales engineer and ultimately a business and technology leader. Rhys is passionate about driving customer conversations away from traditional IT to focus on business solutions leveraging cloud technologies. He has a specific focus on open source development in the cloud and on driving IT infrastructure toward infrastructure as code. Rhys has recently joined GitHub to move back towards his software development roots to help empower customers and partners leverage the power of the GitHub platform to achieve more. Previously, Rhys started the Azure Federal business 5 years ago at Microsoft and grew the business over 5000% in that time frame to exceed a $100M business. He did this through a relentless focus on hiring and retaining the best talent and then focusing those teams where they can make the most impact with customers. His deep technology background enables him to understand which customers are in a position to grow and which will be slow to adopt technology based on their current IT environment. Rhys is passionate about helping customers and partners meet their business objectives by leveraging technology where appropriate and in building teams of the best sales and engineering talent in the industry to enable those customers as they transform.
