Tracy Lund currently serves as the State Wide Surface Water Hydrologist within the Source Water Protection Unit at the Minnesota Department of Health. She has held this position since 2017, contributing to the protection of surface water sources across the state. Prior to this role, she worked as a District Groundwater Hydrologist in the same unit from 2012 to 2018, where she focused on groundwater issues. Additionally, she served as a Support Hydrologist from 2011 to 2012. Tracy Lund holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Western Michigan University, which she completed from 2002 to 2005. She also earned a Master of Science degree in Geological Sciences from Arizona State University between 2006 and 2010. Furthermore, she studied Speech Communication with a focus on Radio and TV at Southwest Minnesota State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from 1993 to 1997. Her educational background supports her expertise in hydrology and water protection.

Tracy Lund has extensive experience in research and laboratory management. She worked as a Laboratory Manager and Research Assistant at the Koretsky Aqueous Geochemistry Lab at Western Michigan University from 2004 to 2006. She later served as Assistant Laboratory Manager at Arizona State University in the Group Exploring Organic Processes in Geochemistry (GEOPIG) from 2007 to 2009. During her time at Arizona State University, she was also a Graduate Research Assistant from 2006 to 2009, gaining valuable experience in geochemistry and hydrology.

In her role at the Minnesota Department of Health, Tracy Lund acts as a subject matter expert on regulated and emerging contaminant issues affecting community and non-community public water supplies. She leads a surface water drinking water source monitoring study that focuses on nitrate-impacted community public water supplies. Additionally, she represents drinking water protection interests in state interagency meetings, addressing topics such as road construction and mining.
