He then transitioned to GE Power as a Quality and Compliance Leader and Lead Instrumentation and Control Engineer for the ESBWR Project from 2007 to 2009. Laherty also served as a Field Service Representative at Medtronic from 2004 to 2007 and as a Senior Nuclear Supplier Quality Engineer and Lead Auditor at Schneider Electric from 2011 to 2015. His experience includes a position as Principal Quality Engineer and Nuclear Lead Auditor at Westinghouse Electric Company from 2015 to 2020, and as a Supplier Quality Engineer at Biomet from 2009 to 2011.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering Technology from Thomas Edison State University, completing his studies from 2001 to 2003.
