“I love what I do.” Mary has been proving this, as well as her expertise in brand design and marketing communications, for more than 30 years. In that time, Mary has been responsible for the successful branding and bottom line enhancement of clients in the food, entertainment, finance and healthcare industries, as well as for education and non-profit organizations. “Design is in my blood.” That’s why, even though most would wait until graduating from college to start working professionally (or apprentice for someone else’s firm for a few years), the St. Louis native began while still an upperclassman at Parsons School of Design. Upon graduating with honors, she officially launched her firm with a little client called Bristol-Myers. And the winner is… As the recipient of the 2010 IWEC Award, Mary was one of only three of the top U.S. women entrepreneurs to receive this accolade. While she welcomes creative honors (PM+CO has won over 100 awards), Mary believes the real value of her work is in surpassing her clients’ goals. “I’ll show you.” This comment was first directed at her five older brothers who liked to dissuade her from competing with them; then at NYC, where for decades she has shown everyone by being voted one of the top ten designers in New York by moodBoard magazine; speaking at industry events; teaching at Parsons and the Columbia Business School; and serving on the boards of prestigious organizations. And she cooks too, sharing her culinary know-how at Love-the secret ingredient. Mary also paints, bikes and plays the piano.
