Following his tenure at NTIS, he served as a Senior Network Engineer at SRA International, Inc. from 2000 to 2011, where he configured and implemented numerous Cisco routers and switches that formed the core backbone of the NIH network.

Tom Nguyen studied at Montgomery College, where he earned an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Management Information Systems from 1988 to 1992. He furthered his education at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, obtaining a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Information Systems Management from 1992 to 1994.
