About Jasmine K. Burton, Mph, MBA

Jasmine is a social innovation strategist and hybrid professional with a focus on gender equity, racial justice and meaningful youth engagement in the global health, education, and economic opportunity sectors. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Georgia Institute of Technology’s (GT) College of Design with a BSc in Industrial Design as a Stamps President’s Scholar. Prior to graduation, Burton founded Wish for WASH (W4W), a social enterprise (now operating as a multi-pronged collective) intended to bring innovation to sanitation after her senior design team was the first all-female team to win the GT InVenture Prize Competition (the largest undergraduate invention competition in the US) for their invention -the SafiChoo toilet. Jasmine has since led the 200+ members and alumni of W4W in conducting iterative product and business model research pilots in Kenya, Zambia, Uganda, Ethiopia, and the US; publishing 4+ peer reviewed publications; securing 2 US Utility Patents; and positively impacting 100K+ program stakeholders with a 1:3 SROI ratio as determined by One Young World + PwC — all while being rooted in equity-centered design methods. She continued to pursue her passion by receiving her MPH (with a focus on health education) from the London School of Hygiene + Tropical Medicine as a Rotary Global Grant Scholar and her MBA from Emory University's Goizueta Business School as a Consortium Management + Social Enterprise fellow. As a speaker and facilitator, Jasmine has spoken on 300+ global stages — including at TedxAtlanta, Women Deliver, and SXSW — and has been featured on 75+ media platforms including CNN Money, Yahoo Finance, Inc., WIRED, Fast Company, and WSBTV for her diverse thought leadership and technical prowess across the Impact Economy. With a decade of varying experiences that span the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals across 10 countries within the public, private, and social enterprise sectors, Jasmine identifies as a social impact designer and storyteller who seeks to combine design thinking, business strategy, and evidence-based science to build a more inclusive world. She is a serial social entrepreneur who is passionate about supporting others in starting and growing their impact ventures through intrapreneurship, coaching, teaching, and advisory as showcased in her work with Common Group, IDEO U, Georgia Tech, the Anchor School, wasted*, Equilo, Be Girl, and Toilet Board Coalition. Ultimately, Jasmine works to dismantle barriers for those structurally excluded because #everybodypoops. jasminekburton.com
