Ruben Simonyan, PhD, PMP®, is the Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia and a Senior Solutions Engineering Manager at National Instruments in Yerevan.

Current Title and Roles

Ruben Simonyan, PhD, PMP®, currently holds the position of Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia. In addition to his governmental role, he also serves as a Senior Solutions Engineering Manager at National Instruments (NI) in Yerevan. His multifaceted career in high-tech industries and engineering management showcases his diverse skill set and leadership capabilities.

Professional Experience in Engineering and Telecommunications

Ruben Simonyan has an extensive background in engineering and telecommunications, with over a decade of experience in various capacities. At National Instruments, he progressed from being a Project Manager (2015-2017) to Applications Engineering Group Manager (2017-2023) and now serves as Senior Solutions Engineering Manager. Prior to National Instruments, he held multiple roles at VivaCell-MTS, including Switching Engineer, Senior Switching Engineer, and Switching Supervisor. His career began as an Engineer at LT-Pyrkal CJSC and a Research Assistant at the State Engineering University of Armenia.

Educational Background and Certifications

Ruben Simonyan achieved his PhD in Telecommunication Networks, Devices, and Systems from the State Engineering University of Armenia, where he also earned his Master’s Degree in Communication Means and Telecommunication and his Bachelor's Degree in Physics and Technics of Optical Communication. His education has laid a robust foundation for his career in telecommunications and high-tech industries. Additionally, he holds a PMP® certification, indicating his expertise in project management.

Roles and Contributions at VivaCell-MTS

Ruben Simonyan spent a significant part of his career at VivaCell-MTS, the Armenian subsidiary of MTS Group. He first joined the company as a Switching Engineer (2005-2008), then advanced to Senior Switching Engineer (2008-2011), and finally took on the role of Switching Supervisor (2011-2015). His responsibilities included overseeing various switching operations and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of telecommunications services.

Academic and Research Engagements

Ruben Simonyan has also contributed to academia as a Member of the State Examination Commission at the State Engineering University of Armenia in 2010. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Fiber Optics Communication System laboratory from 2003 to 2006. His engagement in academic and research activities demonstrates his commitment to advancing the field of telecommunications and sharing his expertise with the next generation of engineers.
