About Jacqueline Ryall
I am excited and honored to step into the role of General Counsel of the Clooney Foundation for Justice. Prior to joining CFJ, I spent over a decade with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, supporting its operations and advising on philanthropic investments that have social impact and balance sustainability with charitable outcomes. As part of this work, I have structured and negotiated complex transactions with multinational organizations, for-profit and nonprofit entities, governments, and universities. I am highly skilled in navigating intellectual property issues, regularly advising on copyright, publication, digital media, data privacy, product development and related legal matters. I have a strong desire for social justice and in an additional role as a program officer in the foundation’s Gender Equality division I had the opportunity to engage on women’s equality and leadership issues, making grants to analyze organizational culture and legal and systematic obstacles that frustrate diversity and equality in sub-Saharan Africa. As a co-founder of SMASH, l am an advocate that is dedicated to supporting our local music and arts community and working on solutions that address the issues faced by our most vulnerable populations.
