Defne has actively participated in various student associations at the University of British Columbia. She was a Podcast Host for the UBC Turkish Student Association from 2020 to 2021. She also held multiple leadership roles within the same association, including Vice President External Relations from 2020 to 2022 and External Team Member & Event Coordinator from 2019 to 2020.
