Thomas Alslev Christensen has been employed at Novo Nordisk Fonden since August 2014. He currently serves as the Senior Vice President Impact, a position he has held since 2020. In this role, he is responsible for impact assessment, analyses, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and data reporting. Prior to his current role, he was the Head of Impact from 2019 and the Head of Operations from 2014 to 2018.
Education and Expertise
Thomas Alslev Christensen holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in International Economics and Finance from Copenhagen Business School, where he studied from 1990 to 1992. He also achieved a Cand.polit. degree in Economics from the University of Copenhagen, studying from 1980 to 1987. His expertise includes impact measurement of science and technology innovation (STI) institutes, as well as international monetary economics and trade theory.
Background
Christensen has a diverse professional background in various governmental and academic roles. He served as the Head of Department at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation from 2005 to 2014. He has also held positions at the Danish Agency for Science Technology and Innovation (DASTI) and the Ministry of Economics. His academic experience includes being an External Associate Professor at both the University of Copenhagen and Copenhagen Business School.

Throughout his career, Thomas Alslev Christensen has authored textbooks and articles on topics such as economics, trade theory, and international taxation. He has served as an international STI policy advisor and evaluation expert in various countries, including Germany, Norway, and Singapore. Additionally, he was the Head of Secretariat at the Danish Council for Technology and Innovation from 2006 to 2014 and was involved in the administration of public policy focused on innovation support programmes.
