Before joining Nuro, Tilo Schwarz held several positions at Mercedes-Benz Research & Development North America, Inc. He served as Director of Autonomous Driving from 2021 to 2023, and prior to that, he was a Distinguished Engineer and Lead Architect for Autonomous Driving from 2018 to 2021. His tenure included roles as Senior Manager for AD Intelligence and Senior Principal Engineer, where he focused on localization and sensor fusion.
Academic Background in Physics
Tilo Schwarz has a strong academic background in Physics. He earned a Bachelor's degree from The University of Bonn from 1988 to 1991. He then completed a Master's degree at the University of Stuttgart from 1991 to 1995, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at Kiel University from 1996 to 2000. He also studied at Stony Brook University, where he achieved a Master of Arts in Physics from 1992 to 1993.
