Work at ODI
Sierd Hadley has been a Senior Research Fellow at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) since 2014. In this role, he provides technical assistance for local government reforms in Uganda and Somalia as part of ODI’s Budget Strengthening Initiative. His work focuses on enhancing the capabilities of finance ministries and prioritizing public financial management reforms, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa and the Pacific.
Education and Expertise
Sierd Hadley holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Governance and Development from the University of Sussex, which he completed from 2007 to 2008. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from the University of York, studying from 2004 to 2007. His educational background supports his expertise in public financial management and governance.
Background
Before joining ODI, Sierd Hadley worked in various roles related to policy and research. He served as a Policy Officer at the Ministry of Finance in the Swaziland Government from 2010 to 2014. Prior to that, he was a Researcher at Action Against Hunger | ACF-UK from 2008 to 2009 and held a Policy Officer position at HM Treasury from 2009 to 2010.
