About Guy A. Metcalfe

Guy is a former (retired as of 1/31/24) Managing Director of Morgan Stanley, a member of the Investment Banking Executive Committee, and Global Chairman of Morgan Stanley’s real estate investment banking business which he led for over two decades. Guy joined Morgan Stanley in 1990. He was named a Managing Director in 2002, became U.S. Real Estate Investment Banking Head in 2002, Global Head in 2006 and Global (Executive) Chairman in 2013. Under Guy’s leadership, the Morgan Stanley real estate franchise has been the global leader in facilitating and completing large, industry-defining real estate transactions. Guy has completed over $850 billion of transactions across multiple geographies, likely the most in the real estate industry during his career. Guy has also been advisor to Morgan Stanley on it’s corporate real estate matters, including the Firm’s extrication from Revel Casino in Atlantic City, the disposition of it’s original European headquarters building at Canary Wharf, the sale of 522 Fifth Avenue in New York, and Morgan Stanley’s extensive review of relocating it’s global headquarters in New York. Guy was appointed to the Board of Trustees of RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust, one of Canada’s premier REITs, in early 2024. Among other professional affiliations, Guy has been an advisor on real estate matters to the Partnership Fund for New York City. He has also been a dedicated philanthropist with active leadership roles in the areas of children’s education and mental health. He is a past trustee/board member of St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's School on New York City’s Upper West Side, Trey Whitfield School, a top-performing inner-city school in East New York, Brooklyn, and Schools That Can, a national organization focused on bridging the education and skills gap for children in lower income communities, where he is Vice Chairman Emeritus. Guy currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Child Mind Institute, the country's leading organization and nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders. Guy earned an Honors B.A. in Business Administration from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario in 1990 and resides in New York City.
