Alex Chen currently serves as the UI Team Lead at PingCAP, a position he has held since 2020 in Huangpu District, Shanghai. In this role, he is responsible for the user interface and user experience design of the TiDB Enterprise Product (SaaS). He maintains and updates the UI/UX for both the international and Chinese official websites of PingCAP. Previously, he worked as a Senior Designer at PingCAP from 2018 to 2019, where he contributed to various design projects.

Alex Chen studied at Simon Fraser University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Interactive Arts & Technology from 2010 to 2014. Prior to that, he attended Thomas Haney Secondary from 2007 to 2009. His educational background has equipped him with extensive knowledge in design principles and practices, which he applies in his professional roles.
Background
Before joining PingCAP, Alex Chen held several design positions. He worked as a Senior Digital Designer at C Space for six months in 2016-2017 and as a Design Lead at HackHub for one year from 2017 to 2018 in Vancouver, Canada. He also served as a Graphic/UI Designer at TouchPal from 2014 to 2016 in Shanghai, China. These roles have contributed to his comprehensive experience in design and visual identity management.
Design Contributions
Alex Chen has extensive experience in designing and managing visual identities, including logo style guides, typography, and color palettes. He designed the user interface for the TiDB University website and coordinates with external printers and vendors for marketing print materials. Additionally, he provides design support for all departments within PingCAP and mentors junior designers.
