About Derek Snook
“We need more entrepreneurs engaging the most difficult challenges our society faces today with these kinds of innovative businesses and approaches." – Brad D. Smith, Chairman and former CEO of Intuit, endorsing The Definition of Success by Derek Snook Derek grew his first company with no investment to $4 million in annual revenue, and has written two books. The Definition of Success tells the story of the year he voluntarily lived homeless, the people he met, and how we can redefine success, and Driving w/ Strangers is a book of meditations about Derek’s drive from Mongolia to London. Derek's current company, CoLife, is modernizing housing for the next generation by making it safe and easy to rent a room in an owner-occupied home. It's like Airbnb + a dating app, for housing. CoLife is creating affordable housing units for a few hundred dollars each while addressing isolation, American's greatest health risk, positively impacting the environment, and helping create the future of cities. Derek has given a TEDx talk, guest lectured at The College of Charleston and University of Southern California, published in the Stanford Social Innovation Review, and written for The Huffington Post. His proudest life moment was when he won a male beauty pageant contest in college, performing for the talent portion an interpretational ribbon dance to Aladin’s “A Whole New World”.
