Cross-Agency Telehealth Initiative

Brad Wintersteen co-created a cross-agency initiative aimed at addressing the challenges associated with adopting telehealth. This effort aimed to serve over one million healthcare providers and more than 300 million patients across the United States. His collaborative work involved various agencies including the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), and the Office of the Surgeon General (OSG).

Development of Telehealth.HHS.gov

Wintersteen led the development and launch of Telehealth.HHS.gov, a government website designed to promote the use of telehealth services. He managed product strategy, engineering development, and led a lean team of developers, designers, and user researchers. The website was developed using the latest web design standards from the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) and was launched in less than two weeks.

Policy Advisory Roles

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Brad Wintersteen served as an AI policy advisor detailed to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and took on the additional role of telehealth policy lead. In his capacity, he helped bring together leaders and subject-matter experts from various federal agencies, including HHS, HRSA, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR), to identify opportunities and challenges in telehealth adoption.

Support for White House Technology Pledge

Brad Wintersteen supported the White House launch of the Pledge to Embrace Technology to Advance America's Health. This initiative saw over 50 of the nation's largest health insurance plans and stakeholders commit to expanding telehealth coverage and adoption. Wintersteen played a key role in this significant policy advancement aimed at promoting the use of technology in healthcare.
