His earlier career included roles as a Front End Developer at Smashing Boxes from 2013 to 2014 in Durham, NC, and as a User Experience Engineer at Credit Suisse from 2012 to 2013 in RTP, NC. Swaim began his tenure at Credit Suisse as a Technical Analyst from 2011 to 2012 and was a Summer Analyst in 2010.
