About Sergio Berensztein
Sergio Berensztein holds an MA and PhD in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a BA in History from the University of Buenos Aires. He is a political analyst based in Buenos Aires, where he runs his own consultancy (see Berensztein.com) working with the most important public and private sector leaders in assessing political and regulatory risks in uncertain environments, focusing on Argentina with a broad Latin American perspective. He has served as an advisor to multiple international organizations like the Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF), the Inter American Development Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the United Nations Development Program, and the World Bank. Berensztein was a professor at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella from 1997 to 2017 and has been a visiting professor at Princeton, Georgetown and Duke, among others. Currently, he is the Director of the Institute of Behavioral Sciences and Public Policy at INECO and President of International Press Service LATAM. He has written more than 50 publications on political reform, institutional development and political economy. His last books are “La primera revuelta fiscal. La 125 y el conflicto con el campo” (Margen izquierdo), and ¿Somos todos peronistas? (El Ateneo). His next one, After Globalization: Understanding the Rise of Populism and Protectionism, focuses on the impact of 9/11, the great recession, the current technological revolution, climate change abd the COVID 19 pandemia in shaping the current political landscape in both developed and developing countries. He is co-author of the books "El país que queremos", "El poder narco: Drogas, inseguridad y violencia en la Argentina", "Los beneficios de la libertad", “Dueños del éxito", and “Por qué fracasan todos los gobiernos”. He is a columnist for La Nación newspaper, TN news channel, Radio Cadena 3 and Radio Rivadavia. Sergio was coeditor of Focoeconomico.org, and the co-host of a daily radio show, Vuelo de Regreso (Return Flight, FM Milenium 106.7) between 2018 and 2019.
