Nicole Griensewic serves as the Executive Director, bringing a wealth of experience from both private sector and non-profit leadership roles. She is noted for her commitment to public service and her efforts in enhancing collaboration and engagement. Her leadership has been instrumental in sharing the story of Region Nine nationally and globally for over a decade.

Education and Professional Development

Nicole Griensewic graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where she was recently honored with the Alumnus Award. She is currently enhancing her expertise by completing an executive certificate on economic development at the Harvard Kennedy School. This continual pursuit of knowledge underscores her dedication to advancing her skills in economic development and public service.

Board Memberships and Professional Affiliations

Nicole Griensewic holds several key board memberships and affiliations. She is an active member of the University of Minnesota’s Climate Smart Municipalities program with North Rhine-Westphalia and the State of Minnesota's Clean Economy Workgroup. Additionally, she contributes to the national Gender Equity in Transportation (GET) Collaborative. Nicole serves as the first female Chair of the University of Minnesota's Center for Transportation Studies, and is also a board member of the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO), the Greater Minnesota Partnership, and Minnesotans for the American Community Survey. She provides advisory support to South Central College's Center for Agriculture.
