About Katelyn Dolan
Katelyn Dolan is a Senior Research Scientist at Regrow Ag with extensive experience in ecological research, remote sensing, and carbon cycle studies.
Title: Senior Research Scientist
Katelyn Dolan currently holds the position of Senior Research Scientist at Regrow Ag. She has been in this role since 2019. Her responsibilities likely involve leading research projects and contributing to the development of sustainable agricultural practices.
Previous Positions
Before joining Regrow Ag, Dolan worked at Montana State University-Bozeman as a Postdoctoral Researcher from 2018 to 2019. She also held a Postdoctoral Researcher position at the University of Maryland from 2016 to 2017. Additionally, she was a Joint Global Carbon Cycle Center Predoctoral Fellow at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center from 2014 to 2015. Her early career includes roles such as Graduate Research Assistant at the Global Ecology Lab and Summer Camp Director at Tin Mountain Conservation Center.
Education and Expertise
Katelyn Dolan earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geography from the University of Maryland, completing her studies from 2011 to 2015. She has a Master of Science (M.S.) in Natural Resources from the University of New Hampshire, spanning 2007 to 2009. She also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Environmental Conservation from the University of New Hampshire (2003-2007). Additionally, she participated in the EcoQuest Field Studies Semester Abroad Program in New Zealand in 2006. Throughout her academic journey, she received the NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowship.
Research and Academic Contributions
Dolan's Ph.D. research focused on using remote sensing and ecosystem modeling to study forest disturbance and recovery dynamics across the U.S. She coordinated and conducted postdoctoral research on two large nationally recognized cross-disciplinary grants addressing ecological mapping and carbon mitigation strategies. Her master's research leveraged data from spaceborne lidar to assess the impact of Hurricane Katrina on forests in Louisiana and Mississippi.
NASA Internships and Fellowships
Katelyn Dolan interned at the NASA Goddard/UNH Research and Discover program, researching climate change effects on agricultural opportunities in the Pan-Arctic Basin and early forest regrowth in the Eastern U.S. using Landsat time series data and the Geoscience Laser Altimeter System (GLAS). She was also a Joint Global Carbon Cycle Center Predoctoral Fellow at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, further expanding her research experience in the field of carbon cycling and environmental science.
