About Jeremy Krol

Currently, I am a mechanical engineer at a startup in Buffalo, NY called SomaDetect. We design aninnovative in-line milk sensor for dairy farms that uses artificial intelligence to determine the different milkcomponents of the milk coming out of each cow, as to improve milk quality. My role in the company is the design, assembly, and installation of this sensor. I perform the design for all the plastic injection molded parts, sheet metalparts, a few CNC parts, as well as work directly with suppliers for post process operations, like gaskets, adhesiveassembly, etc. I am also responsible for all the assembly instructions and drawings and have been at our contractmanufacturer countless times to run through the build, help diagnose assembly problems, and to optimize theassembly process. I have seen and lead the entire product life cycle so far of the current sensor, taking it fromconceptual design, into prototyping, then manufacturing, and finally production. As a more secondary role, I am a part of the install team and have traveled all over the US and Canada to visit dairy farms as a pre-install visit and to install our sensor.Prior to SomaDetect, I was a mechanical design engineer at another start-up company named Vader Systems in Buffalo, New York, later purchased by Xerox. Vader Systems designed an innovative, one-of-a-kind Drop-On-Demand liquid metal 3D printer. I was part of the design team of engineers who simulated, designed, built, and tested the entire machine. One of my primary focuses was on the design of the printer head itself, mainly increasing reliability, serviceability, printing temperature, and consistency of printing. The other half of my role was to program, machine, and manufacturer parts for the printer head and printer in general. I ran a CNC for the 2 years I was there, having machined metals, various plastics, graphite, and other refractory ceramics. Before Vader Systems, I also had a brief stint at a start-up named KeepTruckin, as an embedded systems engineer. Here, I wrote applications to check for vehicle data quality, consistency, and edge cases across hundreds of heavy trucks. I also helped manage the manufacturing test software at the contract manufacturer.
