About Stuart Ellman
I started RRE Ventures when I was 27 years old with my close friend and business school classmate, Jim Robinson IV. At the time, we had no fund and hustled to keep the lights on and to help companies we were passionate about. Thirty years later, RRE Ventures has raised ten funds, manages about $3 billion, and has invested in over 400 companies. However, I still remember what it’s like to start a company and I try to bring this perspective to every meeting I have with entrepreneurs. I love my job and could not imagine doing anything else. I was also a long time Board Member of the 92nd Street Y where I served for three years at Chairman and three years as President. 92Y is a world-class nonprofit community and cultural center that connects people at every stage of life to the worlds of education, the arts, health and wellness, and Jewish life. More than 300,000 people visit 92Y’s New York City venues annually, and millions more join us through the Internet, satellite broadcasts and other digital media. From 2003-2018, I taught a Seminar on Venture Capital at Columbia Business School where I was an Adjunct Associate Professor. The course was consistently one of the highest reviewed and most sought after classes at CBS. My co-Professor, Will Porteous, and I have taught almost 800 students and have a number of alumni acting as venture capitalists and entrepreneurs. I am on the investment board of the Tamer Center at Columbia. I am on the board of Wesleyan University, The Browning School and have been a TechStars mentor. I have been a member of the New York City Investment Fund's Innovation Council, the VC Advisory Group of the New York City Economic Development Corporation, and the Economic Club of New York. I am married to Susan who I met in college. We have a son, Ben, who is a startup entrepreneur and a daughter, Lily, who is in college. All of us are avid pet lovers and I live in Miami with a spoiled corgi named Bamba
