About Renata George

San Francisco, USA / Vancouver, Canada Exit history: - own business sold (2008) - Simple (portfolio) acquired for $117+M (2014) - Credit Karma (portfolio) acquired for $7+B (2019) - Canva, BarkBox, etc. (soon-to-be). Complex systems is my specialty. Whether it's a technology, business or personal challenge, I love deconstructing them into sub-systems and isolated components in order to find a solution to a problem or an opportunity for growth. Besides operating a venture fund, I make venture capital education more accessible to increase diversity in the industry. "Diversity is like charity: if you're really into it, you don't talk about it much". After selling my business, I started investing as an angel investor and raised a $20M fund in 2011. I then joined a Fintech fund and moved on to a corporate venture arm of an Asian 'unicorn'. I currently run another corporate VC fund. Before I started investing myself, I helped startups raise ~$30M from state institutions, as well as ~$20M from venture investors. As an entrepreneur, I built one of the most successful franchise media networks in Eastern Europe. An entrepreneur - turned angel investor - turned VC. #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #EdTech #WearableDevices Author of books: “Venture Capital Mindset” (2018), “Women Who Venture” (2019) Co-author of a course on venture capital and entrepreneurship (2014) Author of “The Manual For Finding A Perfect Mentor For Entrepreneur” (2013) Advisory Board Member at 500 Startups Fund (2013) Seen on Forbes USA "The Top Women in Venture Capital and Angel Investing" (2012) Invited as an Expert of Analytic Center under The Government of Russia on issues: National innovation system design, Integration of the Eurasian economic system, Russian international financial center, Development of competitive markets (2011) USAID invited keynote speaker and program participant (2011-2012) Specialties: Venture Capital, Fund Formation, Startups
