He also holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from The University of New Mexico, acquired between 1998 and 2001, and a BS in Architecture & Planning from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, achieved from 1976 to 1981.
Involvement with the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Program
At Sandia National Laboratories, Jasper Hardesty manages work in support of the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Program for the Department of Energy. His duties include serving on the ARM Infrastructure Management Board, where he coordinates activities across the ARM facility, including site operations, aircraft operations, and data services. He also facilitates collaborations among Sandia, DOE, and other institutions to align activities with the vision for ARM research.
Role in Arctic Science and Security Initiative
Jasper Hardesty contributes to the Sandia Arctic Science and Security Initiative by communicating Arctic science issues with government agencies and stakeholders. Since 2013, he has advised on the design of Arctic research and monitoring facilities. He is also a Board Member of the Arctic Research Consortium of the U.S. (ARCUS) since 2018 and serves as co-Chair of the Membership & Development Committee, along with being a member of the Nominations and Strategic Planning Committees.
