She worked as the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Lead at Birkbeck, University of London from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, she served as the Principal Officer - Corporate Diversity at the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham for 11 months in 2008-2009, and as Head of Equality & Diversity at City & Islington College from 2009 to 2011. Additionally, she was the Diversity & Inclusion Manager at St George's, University of London from 2017 to 2019.

Ammara Khan holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Community Development from the University of Westminster, which she completed from 2000 to 2004. She also earned a BA (Hons) in Information Management from Birmingham City University between 1990 and 1994. Her educational background supports her expertise in diversity and inclusion strategies across various sectors.
Achievements in Diversity Initiatives
Ammara Khan has led several impactful diversity initiatives throughout her career. She project managed a BME staff development inclusion programme that received an Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion Award. Additionally, she designed a national training product on managing difference for Royal Mail Managers and achieved a 100% rating for the effectiveness of Managing Diversity training delivered to Babcock International group.
Professional Involvement and Contributions
Ammara Khan has contributed to various organizations and initiatives in the field of diversity. She was a member of the Independent Advisory Group (Diversity) for the National Crime Squad for three years. She also served as Head of Race Equality Charter at Advance HE from 2019 to 2020 and has delivered diversity lectures and workshops internationally, including for Hokkaido University in Japan in 2015 and 2016.
