Cem Gurkan has been serving as the Head of Platforms & Products at Save the Children UK since 2019. In this role, he manages a diverse product portfolio that supports over 50 clients, including prominent organizations such as the Norwegian Refugee Council and various UN agencies. His responsibilities include ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of the platforms while enhancing the user experience for humanitarian aid workers. Gurkan also oversees the HPass accreditation platform, which is designed to complement the Kaya learning platform.
Previous Experience in Humanitarian Organizations
Prior to his current role, Cem Gurkan worked at the Humanitarian Leadership Academy as a Product Manager from 2017 to 2019. He led a cross-functional team to drive innovation and growth for the Academy's flagship learning platform. Additionally, he served as a Project Manager for Membership & Governance at Start Network from 2014 to 2017, and as an Assistant to the Head of International HR at the British Red Cross from 2013 to 2014.
Education and Expertise
Cem Gurkan holds a Master's Degree in Human Rights from University College London, where he studied from 2012 to 2013. He also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Literature and Philosophy from the University of East Anglia, completing his studies from 2009 to 2012. His educational background provides a strong foundation for his work in humanitarian aid and product management.
