Prior to his tenure at Save the Children, he worked with Concern Worldwide as a Project Manager from 2005 to 2009 in Gaibandha, Bangladesh. He also served as the focal point for emergency management for three districts in northern Bangladesh during his time there. His familiarity with UN policies and procedures is enhanced by over one and a half years of experience with UNDP.

Monirul Islam has significant experience in conducting training processes, which includes training needs assessment, curriculum design, method selection, material development, facilitation, and evaluation of training programs.
