About Irene M.

Notre Dame alumna and Equity Derivatives & Structured Notes analyst at Scotiabank's NYC office. In undergrad I majored in Finance and Chinese with a Computing & Digital Technologies minor. Now, I am an analyst on Scotiabank's Equity Derivatives & Structured Notes desk. Before landing on this team, I worked in Repo Trading and in Debt Capital Markets -- specifically Private Placements. I've provided value to my teams through my diverse background of finance experience and through my extensive experience with Excel, PowerPoint, VBA (Macros), and Python. Throughout college, I gained experience to Equity Research (DCFs, portfolio management, etc), Private Equity, and Venture Capital through a variety of internships and application-only classes. I spent eight years throughout high school and college studying Mandarin. During my last summer of college, I attended the Princeton in Beijing program, an intensive language study experience where we learned an entire year's worth of Chinese in only eight weeks. This experience improved my confidence in my speaking and listening skills. Besides Excel, PowerPoint, and VBA, which I have already had the opportunity to leverage at Scotiabank, I also have experience coding in Python, SQL, C#, HTML & CSS, and R. I look forward to continuing to streamline processes and add value to my team by leveraging these skills. Outside of work, I am passionate about language learning -- currently I am learning Spanish. I also enjoy coding -- I've created two video games and am working on my third and largest project. My other interests include skiing, gaming, swimming, playing piano, writing, and animation.
