About Christopher Ross
I am a passionate leader excited to build on Seattle Humane’s success in saving lives and completing families, as well as guiding the organization into the future amidst massive changes in animal welfare. I have a deep reservoir of successful corporate and nonprofit executive experience, as well as a profound love for animals. My career has been a combination of roles and experiences, which have shaped my personal and professional identity. Early on in my career, I identified servant leadership as the management style that most naturally aligned with my beliefs and unique style. I quickly learned how satisfying it is to lead others with support and empowerment. I enjoy leading and inspiring teams to work together to create a healthy culture and business, to tackle challenges with creativity and innovation, and to find success with purpose. Along the way, I learned what truly motivates me. I have two constant through-threads in my life that have played out both personally and professionally: One is being a caregiver, and the other is my love of animals. These two elements define me. I have been the caregiver in many ways, across many careers. And anyone who knows me knows my devotion to my many numerous family pets throughout my lifetime. For more than 25 years I have been an agent of growth, change, and leadership. I pivoted to mission-based work because of my need to feed my head and the heart, to find a way to live my values. My time with Compass Housing Alliance allowed me to focus on root-cause solutions, addressing the homelessness and low-income housing crisis that continues throughout the Pacific Northwest region. I love being able to make a difference in the communities we all call home. I now have found “my forever home” and as the leader of Seattle Humane, I am committed and excited to provide the community and our animals the leadership, passion and compassion, our animals and community need.
