Rosemarie Truglio serves as the Senior Vice President of Curriculum and Content at Sesame Workshop, a position she has held since 2015. Truglio collaborates closely with producers and the Head Writer to translate educational concepts into engaging, age-appropriate content. She leads the development of educational frameworks and curricula for notable programs, including the Emmy Award®-winning US Sesame Street show and the UK-based Furchester Hotel show.

Before her current role, Truglio held several positions at Sesame Workshop. She served as the Senior Vice President of Education & Research from 1999 to 2013, where she focused on educational initiatives and research. Additionally, she was the Director of Sesame Street Research for two years from 1997 to 1999. Following her tenure as Director, she became the Senior Vice President of Global Curriculum and Content from 2013 to 2015, further contributing to the organization's educational strategies.
Educational Background
Truglio has an extensive educational background. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Rutgers University-New Brunswick. She then pursued a Master’s Degree in Human Development at The University of Kansas. Truglio further advanced her studies at The University of Kansas, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Developmental and Child Psychology. This academic foundation supports her work in curriculum development and educational content.
Professional Development and Training
In her role, Truglio oversees and conducts Professional Development training for directors and staff at the Sesame Street Kids Camp located at Beaches Resorts in Jamaica and Turks & Caicos. She also develops and trains partners on how to effectively utilize Sesame Street’s intellectual property in themed entertainment. Her efforts ensure that educational content is effectively delivered and implemented across various platforms.
Academic Career at Teachers College
Prior to her extensive work at Sesame Workshop, Truglio was an Assistant Professor of Communication and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, from 1990 to 1997. During her seven years in this role, she contributed to the academic field by focusing on communication strategies in education, further enhancing her expertise in curriculum development and educational methodologies.
