Mailet Lopez is the Co-Founder and Managing Director at Squeaky Wheel Media, where she is at the core of ensuring the agency’s commitment to client success. Mailet leads the management and growth of significant Fortune 500 clients and shapes Squeaky’s core disciplines, including strategy, design, development and marketing. As the co-founder, Mailet helped Squeaky grow from a fledging start up in 2001 into the team of 30 strategists, designers and technologists that it is today. She has been at the helm of many industry awards and accolades, including being named both an AdAge Small Agency of the Year and one of INC.’s 5000 Fastest Growing Companies. Mailet is also the CEO and founder of IHadCancer.com, a peer-to-peer support community for survivors, fighters and supporters. After battling and wining a cancer diagnosis of her own, Mailet was inspired to build something that didn’t exist – a digital network focused on creating connections that help people better deal with a cancer diagnosis. Mailet leveraged her extensive knowledge of the web and the resources of Squeaky to launch IHadCancer in 2011. Since its inception, the revolutionary website has helped tens of thousands of people realize that they are not alone, and has won numerous acclaim, including recognition from Parade Magazine as the "The #1 Life-Saving Social Network" and "Best Community Website" from The Webby Awards. As a cancer survivor, a Cuban exile and a woman in a male-dominated industry, Mailet has overcome many challenges over her fifteen-year career, but her ambition and intelligence has led her to achieve instrumental success that will continue to pave the way for future entrepreneurs.
