Founder and Co-Director of the MENA Health Program within Stanford Medicine, aimed at increasing health research + capacity building across the MENA region. Founder of Rise with Refugees, an online marketplace for products made by women refugees who are compensated 6X the local min wage to make the products. Because Rise stands for true refugee empowerment and against short-term solutions. Prior to this, Laila received funding from President Tessier-Lavigne of Stanford University to explore the role of Stanford in the refugee crisis and launched several initiatives to engage the University's capabilities (and leverage Silicon Valley's resources) for refugees in the Middle East.
