About Sarah Russell
Rooted in the sciences and liberal arts, my career has evolved from healthcare into technology more broadly. I am drawn to work that helps colleagues and communities manage change, from clinical care transformation to climate crisis adaptation. I’m a startup founder, tech executive, and practicing physician working at the nexus of business, planetary health, and machine learning. After founding my first company, I spent the next decade transitioning between entrepreneurial roles and executive management in large organizations such as the VA and Google. Currently I’m focused on understanding our changing natural world and the implications for businesses, states, and communities. At X, The Moonshot Factory, I lead a team of senior-level experts working on complex machine learning problems, using earth observation data and imagining new categories of business. It’s worth celebrating that the people I work with inspire me; they create real impact. I’m dedicated to bringing others into this opportunity space, building impactful businesses with people who otherwise may have been overlooked.
