About Susan Golden
❖ I am passionate about the opportunities and optimism presented by longer lifespans, healthy aging and the longevity economy. Author of STAGE (Not Age): How to understand and serve people over 60 published by Harvard Business Review Press in June 2022. My book focuses on the business opportunities and strategies to support longevity and healthy aging using stage and not a person's age. The key is to stop thinking of older adults as one market, and to recognize the great diversity in aging. ❖ I develop and invest in innovative approaches to optimize the opportunities presented by the new longevity. Planning for 100 year lives requires innovations in a myriad of industries and sectors including digital health, health tech, health promotion and wellness, education and career, legal and financial planning, housing and public policy. Combining my domain expertise in the longevity economy and relationships in the longevity field with my experience as a venture partner and angel investor, I add value to entrepreneurial teams and impact investors. ❖ I identify unmet and unarticulated needs in order to create innovation opportunities. I use this gap analysis skill when evaluating investment opportunities, competitive landscapes and markets to generate ideas and initiate partnerships. As a natural synthesizer of information and research I have become an expert in the longevity innovations landscape, advising companies on their longevity strategy; startups about the critical success factors for product acceptance and scalability; and entrepreneurs on the many innovations needed to support the 100-year life. ❖ I established the dciX impact initiatives at Stanford DIstinguished Careers Institute to harness the talent and expertise of DCI Fellows for social and economic impact. These initiatives include Longevity Innovations, Impact Investing, Sustainability, mentoring startup teams and intergenerational engagement. In partnership with the Stanford Center on Longevity and dciX, I co-lead the Longevity and Innovations group with a focus on innovations for the AgeTech market including aging/thriving in place, caregiving, addressing ageism, and working longer. I share my expertise by serving as a lecturer and guest panelist.
