About Mark Lockwood
I work as a product data analyst at Steelcase. I graduated with my BBA in Accounting and Management at Grand Valley State University in 2016 and gained my Terp10 Certification later that year. I am currently the Subject Matter Expert and Plant Champion for our Seating lines. My current responsibility is to work with everyone in the workflow to accommodate customer requests for changes to our standard product offering. This entails working with Quote, Edit, Design, Manufacturing Engineers, and Procurement. I work with the Specials Product Data Management Team to manipulate data in SAP to support the requests made by the other functions in the value stream. Being an SME I've come up with multiple process improvements involving communication between functions, training materials, and new ways to validate the work that's been processed. I also work with the standards data and marketing team. We discuss how to update existing products to support frequent customer requests and launch new products with more offerings. My goals while working with the company are to continue to gain knowledge and experience within the department and use my experience in management to evolve into a role of leadership. I would also consider working in other departments to expand my abilities. Areas of interest are purchase to order, order to cash, and order to produce functions particularly within the cost/revenue functions of the company. Looking at my experience prior to Steelcase, I value the time that I've spent as a manager. My time managing people, logistics, payroll, and analysis of trends has proven valuable. My communication skills, through working with customers and managing staff, have been beneficial because I know how to listen with an open mind and communicate in ways that more people can follow. I know that my drive, flexibility and determination to learn has allowed me to succeed and will continue to do so as I grow in my profession.
