As a partner in the Corporate team and Head of Blockchain & Crypto at Philip Lee, my practice primarily involves working on M&A and private equity/venture capital investments, corporate restructuring and corporate finance. Our work includes acting for a broad range of clients from start-ups, angel investors and VCs; multi-national companies; those involved in energy/green-tech, esports, gaming, digital assets, crypto and STOs; and leading individuals and businesses involved in technology and media. Some of the matters I have been involved in include: • Acting for shipping software and ecommerce business,Veeqo Limited, on a number of investment rounds lead by Octopus Ventures and the subsequent sale to Amazon Inc; •Advising leading infrastructure services company, JSM Group, on its investment from PE Fund, Rutland Capital. •Advising a company launching a new cryptocurrency on its $10m raise via Security Token Offering. • Working for Mojang (the creator of the game “Minecraft”), on the sale of the company to Microsoft for $2.5 billion. • Acting for a leading global company providing cryptocurrency custodian services, on their series A investment. • Working principally for Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien (who have interests in the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies and MLS franchise DC United, respectively) on the acquisition of a controlling interest in the football club, Swansea City FC. • Acting for games development company Mojiworks, on its investment funding received from Balderton Capital, Sunstone Capital and Lifeline Ventures. • Leading on the advice to an international infrastructure and security services company on its contractual arrangements and corporate structure with a state government, regarding the financing of a £150m construction project and the implementation of a multi-million pound national IT management system and logistical solution.
