Before joining TELUS, Gabriel worked at HSBC as the Manager of Corporate Compliance - AML Investigations from 2010 to 2014. In this role, he managed investigations related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), ensuring corporate compliance with global financial regulations.

Gabriel holds multiple educational qualifications in forensics, security, and psychology. He studied Financial Forensics and Fraud Investigation at the Canadian Securities Institute and achieved Anti Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing for Banking Professionals certification in 2010. He earned his MA in Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and his BA in Criminology/Psychology from Simon Fraser University. Gabriel also completed specialized training in Cyber/Computer Forensics and Counterterrorism from Guidance Software and Access Data Forensic Bootcamp, acquiring Encase Forensic Training and ACFE Certified Forensic Examiner certifications respectively. Additionally, he holds a CIPP/C certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

Gabriel has shared his expertise through various media appearances. In April 2009, he provided expert opinion on a child pornography investigation in an interview with CBC News. In May 2009, he was featured on 'The Express' on Shaw for an interview on internet security. He has also been interviewed by Fairchild TV News for a magazine piece on phishing scams.
