Title and Current Role
Ziauddin Kamran is currently serving as a Sr. Design Specialist at TELUS. In his role, he acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for 5G features and is responsible for developing technical requirement documents for TELUS 5G wireless devices. Additionally, he participates in roadmap meetings for new and upcoming technologies with device and chipset vendors as a member of the Device Strategy team at TELUS.
Previous Experience at TELUS
Before his current role, Ziauddin Kamran held multiple positions at TELUS. From 2006 to 2009, he worked as a Terminal Certification Specialist, a role that involved leading the development of technical requirement documents and test plans. Prior to this, Kamran worked as an RF Specialist for one year, from 2005 to 2006. In these roles, he collaborated with device OEMs and contributed to launching VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling services across iOS and Android devices.
Engineering and Research Background
Ziauddin Kamran boasts a rich background in engineering and research. From 2002 to 2004, he served as a Research and Teaching Assistant at McMaster University. Prior to this, he worked as a System Engineer at Unique Computer System from 2000 to 2002. His industry experience is complemented by his role in designing and maintaining test plans and test suite scripts independently using Rhode & Schwarz Medium Level C++ Programming Interface (MLAPI) and 3GPP protocol testers CRTU-W and CRTU-G for the TELUS Handset Validation team.

Ziauddin Kamran's educational background is extensive. He achieved his M.A.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from McMaster University between 2002 and 2004. Prior to that, he obtained an M.Eng. in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Nanyang Technological University from 1998 to 2000. He also holds a B.Sc. Eng. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology, completed between 1991 and 1996. Earlier in his academic journey, he attended Comilla Cadet College.

Throughout his career, Ziauddin Kamran has made significant contributions to the field of wireless communication. He has developed and proposed new ideas for projects related to IMS services, distributed developed test script packages to terminal vendors and third-party labs, and provided relevant technical support. Kamran also contributed to defining TELUS' wireless technical specifications by designing emulated labs aimed at optimizing device performance and network compatibility.
