Early Life and Education
Matt Whitmore was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and moved to Toledo with his family in 1987. He completed his high school education at Whitmer High School. From an early age, Matt showed an interest in outdoor activities, attending Camp Cricket in the early 1990s.
Eagle Scout and Community Involvement
As an Eagle Scout, Matt Whitmore demonstrated his leadership and organizational skills through his Eagle Project. For this project, he organized a camping trip at Camp Miakonda for a group of kids from The Ability Center. This experience reflects his commitment to helping others and his love of the outdoors.
Outdoor Enthusiast and Adventure Seeker
Matt Whitmore enjoys various outdoor activities and sports. He has hiked and backpacked in locations such as Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, and Yosemite. Additionally, he enjoys boogie boarding in the ocean off Florida and visiting amusement parks like Cedar Point and Busch Gardens for their roller coasters.
Sports and Recreation Interests
An avid sports fan, Matt Whitmore supports several teams including the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Pistons, and Green Bay Packers. He is a fan of Jeff Gordon and enjoys watching Tiger Woods play golf. Recently, he started playing golf and Putt-Putt.
Current Role and Enjoyment at The Ability Center
Matt Whitmore holds the position of Building Maintenance Assistant at The Ability Center. He loves his job there and often talks sports with friends and fellow staff members, reflecting both his passion for his work and his enthusiasm for sports.
