About Cody Morton

My proudest accomplishments range from creating a Minecraft community in middle school to creating a warehouse management system using RFID in high school. Throughout my career I've proven myself to be quick to learn and adapt to new technologies. I prefer roles that require me to learn a new stack or develop something unique. When I was much younger, I began my career as a web developer. As my opportunities grew and experiences expanded, I started to work with the same companies but instead on their databases and ERP software. I helped solve problems through software, build new systems, and implement working solutions. In these more involved and impactful positions, I discovered that this is the field I want to stay in, not web development. I love helping people do their job easier through software problem solving. Looking at systems I have designed and seeing them work autonomously is so rewarding. I describe my current and past work as software consulting because I am hired as an independent contractor. In a very technical sense, I am a consultant. My roles at any one company have been unconventional, you could have at any time described me as a mix of these roles: software developer, systems designer, implementer, support, training, consulting, database manager, and business analyst. I have always worked as the Jack of all software trades, and I want to change that as I look for more specialized roles.
