Veronica Mena serves as the Cyber Security Regional Lead for SecOps Latin America at ThoughtWorks since 2020. In this role, she leads the regional Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) and is responsible for creating the cybersecurity baseline using the Cyber Security Evaluation Tool (CSET). She supports security audits in accordance with PASSI and OWASP frameworks and ensures compliance with international data protection standards such as ISO 27001, GDPR, and LGPD. Additionally, she conducts continuous penetration testing, threat modeling, phishing simulations, and process control exploitation exercises.

Previous Experience

Prior to her current role, Veronica Mena worked at Telefonica as a Cybersecurity Specialist from 2018 to 2020 in Ecuador. She also held the position of Product Manager at RadioShack for 10 months in 2013-2014. Earlier in her career, she served as an Information Security Analyst at Startel Systems del Ecuador for one year from 2011 to 2012. These roles provided her with a diverse background in cybersecurity and product management.

Education and Expertise

Veronica Mena has a strong educational background in cybersecurity and information technology. She studied at Escuela Politécnica del Ejército, earning a degree in Electronics, Networking, and Data Communications Engineering from 2006 to 2013. She has obtained multiple cybersecurity certifications, including CISSP from ISC2 in 2014, and Cybersecurity - CSX from ISACA in 2019. Her training also includes various specialized programs in cybersecurity, internetworking, and foreign languages.
